About ISIET
The ISIET Society
The International Society for Inner Ear Therapeutics (ISIET) is a global not-for-profit, interdisciplinary organization for scientists and physicians specializing in inner ear therapeutics, covering the complementary range from translational science to clinical applications. ISIET is a burgeoning society with a substantial number of renowned multinational members, comprising both basic and clinical scientists.
Founded and supported by members of academic institutions, ISIET also attracts medical device companies and emerging pharmacological and biotechnological industries.
ISIET’s mission is to provide a global platform and network for the dissemination and exchange of expertise on various innovative treatment modalities for inner-ear-related disorders.
ISIET is organising international symposia
ISIET history
The first international symposium on inner ear disease therapeutics took place in Marrakesh in November 2017 and was jointly chaired by Professor Christine Petit from the Institut Pasteur, Paris France, Professor Abdelaziz RAJI from the Mohammed VI University Hospital Marrakech, and Doctor Saaid Safieddine from the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), Paris, France. Two hundred and fifty participants, including ear, nose and throat specialists, scientists, students and manufacturers from twenty-seven countries met to present the latest findings and progress on the treatment of inner ear diseases, including cochlear and vestibular implants and gene and cell therapies.
The symposium yielded highly positive outcomes. The discussions also highlighted the critical need to strengthen international collaboration in the field of inner ear therapies. While participants expressed their willingness to broaden their collaborations beyond mere attendance at future symposiums, they also emphasized that this goal would be more effectively achieved through the establishment of a dedicated scientific organization. Such an organization would provide an interactive forum to facilitate the exchange and dissemination of knowledge among its members, as well as with society at large. It was therefore decided to establish a truly international body devoted to inner ear therapies, in order to provide a lasting platform for the presentation and discussion of the latest advances in the field and related technologies.
